Possible topics for MSc/BSc thesis and internships

Usually there is data available for analysis, but we can also offer to have a practical experiments for the thesis/internship directly in all the countries. However, this depends on the topic and if funds are available. Contact us for further details or if you want to propose an own topic.

Kenya

  • Pest and disease in organic and conventional farming systems: The aim of the study is to prepare and analyse data on incidence and diversity of different pest and diesease species in specific crops (maize/vegetables/legumes) from the long-term experiment between 2007 till 2018. The write-up of a scientific manuscript for publication is possible.
  • Yield growth parameters in organic and conventional farming systems: The aim of the study is to prepare and analyse data on different crop growth parametes (e.g. crop height, number of leaves, number of harvestable products) from the long-term experiment between 2007 till 2018. The write-up of a scientific manuscript for publication is possible.

Bolivia

  • Comparing soil C-stocks in different cacao production systems: The aim of the study is to compare the soil carbon stocks in monocultures and agroforestry systems managed under conventional and organic farming. The student will analyse soil samples from the years 2010 and 2020 in the lab and is expected to analyse and compared the results.
